4 months later

 It's been 4 months that we moved both of our girls to a German school. I am writing this after a parent-teacher meeting with older one. What worked - kids enthusiasm of going to new school, making new friends in the class and also in the neighbourhood, being able to go to school on their own, also to the stores to buy bread, sense of independence, their ability to outperform everyone in English giving them one area where they feel pretty strong, also a little bit of us buying few of the school-related things (the expensive bag and accessories) and clothes at the beginning of the year and having them have a smooth start with also some help from Anika their baby sitter. This year's covid lockdown and being at home and around them also helps a bit. Plus I am learning the German language too which makes them feel like I am also investing myself into this and they have an ability to teach/correct me in my language skills and see me studying for it for exams of my own. Why am I writing this blog?

I am starting this blog to capture some ideas that we employed to answer some of the academic questions my kids (2 girls - 9 and 6-year-olds) ask me out of their own curiosity or whatever they are studying at the moment. The goal is that we have a place where we can share or store the content or strategies we employed and somehow track them as they grow older and maybe share these ideas with other parents or for our kids to look back in the future. Also, I have a belief that to prepare them for future, the only thing we need to focus on is their fundamentals.. do they have the right type of foundation.. because the education is going to evolve a lot and by the time they enter the university/workforce whatever they have learned would have already become obsolete... as long as their fundamentals about most subjects are right they would be able to understand any new concepts and learn quickly to ensure they are always staying up to date... Maybe I will also invite my wife to write as well...
